Prague Airport to Saxon Switzerland by Public Transport
Saxon Switzerland National Park is one of the most spectacular hiking destinations near Prague. Located on the German-Czech border, it can easily be reached by public transport from Prague Airport in under three hours.
From Prague Airport to the City Center
The easiest and fastest option from Prague Airport (PRG) to the city center is the Airport Express (AE) Bus.
- Runs every 20–30 minutes during the day, and hourly at night
- Direct connection to Prague Main Station (Praha hlavní nádraží)
- Travel time: about 40 minutes

By Train from Prague to Bad Schandau
There are two good connections from Prague to Bad Schandau, the gateway to Saxon Switzerland:
Direct EuroCity (EC) trains
- No transfers
- Depart every 2 hours
- Comfortable and very scenic route along the Elbe River
Trains from Prague towards Germany are very popular, so it is highly recommended to reserve a seat in advance. For the best views during the journey through Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland, sit on the right-hand side of the train.
Regional route via Děčín
- Take trains R 672 or R 676 to Děčín
- Change to regional train RB U28 toward Bad Schandau

From Bad Schandau to Your Final Destination
Once you arrive in Bad Schandau, getting around Saxon Switzerland is easy:
- S-Bahn Line S1 connects all villages along the Elbe. You can change directly at Bad Schandau station.
- Numerous local bus routes depart right in front of the station and reach many hiking areas.

- Additionally, many ferries operate along the river, offering quick river crossings
This combination of train, S-Bahn, bus, and ferry makes public transport in Saxon Switzerland reliable and ideal for hikers.
