How to Get from Prague Airport to the City Center by Public Transport
Orientation at the Airport and Buying Tickets
No matter if you arrive at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 of Václav Havel Airport Prague, you will find public transport information counters in both terminals. You can also buy your tickets there:
- Terminal 1: Exit F
- Terminal 2: Exit A
In front of both terminals, there are bus and trolleybus stops. You will also find many ticket machines there. You can pay easily with credit cards or mobile payment. I bought a 90-minute ticket for 50 CZK (April 2026). You can find timetables here: https://www.prg.aero/en/public-transport-buses
Don’t Forget to Validate Your Ticket
Important: After buying your ticket, you must validate it using the yellow machines. Only then is your ticket valid.
Choosing the Right Connection
You can check the next departures on the display boards at the stops. A simple and popular way to get to the city center is by combining a trolleybus and the metro. I chose line 59.
Taking the Trolleybus to the Metro
The trolleybuses are very long and offer plenty of space for luggage. If needed, you can also buy tickets inside the bus.
The ride takes about 20 minutes to the metro station Nádraží Veleslavín. Don’t worry about missing your stop – it is the final stop of the bus.
Changing to the Metro
The bus stops right next to an entrance to the metro. From there, just go down the stairs to the platforms.
Once downstairs, take the metro towards the city center (“Centrum”). It’s best to check in advance which station is closest to your destination. In my case, it was Muzeum, which I reached after another 20 minutes.
Conclusion
This is a quick, affordable, and easy way to get from the airport to Prague’s city center. Heading back later? See the city center to airport guide for the Airport Express bus.
Once you've settled in, Kutná Hora is one of the easiest and most rewarding day trips from Prague by train.
