The destination – the Pravčická brána (German: Prebischtor) – is spectacular. Natural sandstone rock bridges are a rare sight in Europe, and this one is the largest in Europe. The site is very popular and can get quite crowded during peak season and on weekends. Therefore, plan your hike early in the morning or on weekdays to avoid crowds.

Getting to Hřensko from Děčín

Take a local train to Schöna (approx. 40 CZK / €1.65, 16 minutes), then cross to Hrensko by ferry (F1, extra fee applies). (official timetable: https://www.cd.cz/en/)
Alternatively, take bus lines 434 or 438 from Děčín to Hřensko.

Getting to Hřensko from Dresden

Starting Point and Route Description

The hike starts at the confluence of the Kamenice River and the Elbe in Hřensko. The destination, Prebischtor, is signposted in the village; just keep walking along the river. Turn left at Pension Soutesky / Restaurant Klepac. Continue until you reach the junction where the hiking trail to Prebischtor begins: [lat: 50.880917,lon: 14.270111]

The final 45 minutes of the hike lead through a forest area that was heavily affected by wildfires in 2022. It is impressive to see how nature is slowly recovering. Once you reach the top, you have to pay an entrance fee of €5. You can then look around the area and enjoy many more views of the landscape. There is also a simple but very quick restaurant serving good food.
