Buying a Ticket in Warsaw
I went to Warszawa Zachodnia (Warsaw West station). It was completely rebuilt in 2025 and is very modern. There are luggage lockers and a few ticket machines.
I bought my ticket at the international ticket counter. The staff were friendly and spoke English. I took the 14:24 train and paid by card.
You can also buy international tickets at the counter in Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central station). It has luggage lockers and a few ticket machines as well.

Part 1: Warsaw → Mockava (PKP Intercity)
The train left on time at 14:24.
On board
- Modern train, typical PKP Intercity standard
- Power sockets at every seat
- Wi-Fi did not work
- The carriages were clean and air-conditioned. Staff collected rubbish and cleaned during the trip.
The journey
- Warszawa Centralna: 20-minute stop. Police and soldiers were already on the train here.
- Białystok: 20-minute stop to change the locomotive
- Suwałki: another locomotive change and another 20-minute stop. Police walked through the train.
During the trip, the conductor told passengers the arrival time in Mockava and explained the change of trains.
Changing Trains in Mockava
The train arrived on time at 19:55 Polish time, which is 20:55 Lithuanian time.
Changing trains is easy. The Lithuanian train (LTG Link) waits on the other side of the same platform. You can sit in any free seat. About 10 minutes before arrival, the conductor reminded everyone about the change.
There were no border checks. The train to Kaunas and Vilnius left 13 minutes later.
Part 2: Mockava → Kaunas (LTG Link)
On board
- The train feels a bit wider than the Polish one. This is because Lithuania uses broad-gauge tracks.
- Modern, clean and air-conditioned
- Wi-Fi worked well
- Power sockets under the seats
Food service at your seat
First, staff hand out menus. Then the conductors take your order and bring the food to your seat. You can pay in cash or by card.
Arrival in Kaunas: 22:30. The scheduled time was 22:17, so we were 13 minutes late.
