By Bus from Klaipėda to Liepāja

Good to know before you go

This route is run by Lux Express and only runs in season, roughly from April to September. In April there are buses only on some days, from May there are buses every day, and in high summer there are up to three buses a day.

Getting to Klaipėda bus station

The bus station is right next to the train station. If you arrive by train from Vilnius or Kaunas (LTG Link), it is only a few minutes’ walk.

At Klaipėda bus station

• Supermarket
• Restaurant, especially good for lunch
• Ticket office and ticket machine
• Toilets: €0.50, cash or card
• Wi-Fi, worked well
• Bright waiting room with benches

Buying your ticket

You have two options:

• Online at luxexpress.eu or in the Lux Express app. This is the easiest way, and you don’t depend on the office opening hours.
• At the ticket office in the bus station. It is open from 7:30 to 17:30, with a lunch break from 11:00 to 12:00. The staff member spoke only a little English, but it was enough to buy a ticket, and she was very friendly.

You cannot buy tickets to Latvia at the ticket machine.

Price: €11.30 at the ticket office

Bikes: Bikes travel for free, but each bus takes only four. Book your bike space when you buy your ticket.

Boarding the bus

• The driver checks your ticket and passport carefully, so have both ready.
• When you hand over your luggage, tell the driver where you are going. They will show you where to put your suitcase.

The journey

• Departure: 12:55, on time
• Arrival in Liepāja: 14:35
• Travel time: about 1 hour 40 minutes
• Stops on the way: Palanga and Palanga Airport
• On board: very clean, air-conditioned and comfortable. There are USB ports, Wi-Fi, a toilet and a coffee machine.
